They’re an excellent choice for Clouser-style minnows, baitfish imitations, streamers, crawfish patterns, bass flies, trout streamers, and other subsurface patterns where additional weight and a prominent eye are desired.

Finished & Painted Eyes

Unlike plain unfinished brass eyes, these dumbbell eyes come ready to tie with a finished metal surface and painted eyes.

Choose between:

Gold / Red Eye – A gold-colored finish paired with a bold red painted eye for attractor patterns, streamers, crawfish, and baitfish imitations.

Nickel / White Eye – A bright nickel-colored finish with a contrasting white painted eye for a clean, classic baitfish appearance.

The finished eyes add another visual element to the fly while saving time at the tying bench.

Choose 4.0mm or 4.8mm

Two sizes make it easy to match the eyes to the proportions and weight requirements of your pattern.

4.0mm (5/32″) – A versatile choice for medium streamers and baitfish patterns where additional weight is needed without overpowering the fly.

4.8mm (3/16″) – A larger, heavier option for bigger streamers, crawfish patterns, bass flies, and flies designed for deeper or faster-moving water.

Actual sink rate will depend on the complete fly, hook, materials, leader, current, and fishing conditions.

Great for Clouser-Style & Inverted Patterns

When secured to the appropriate side of the hook, weighted dumbbell eyes can help a fly ride with the hook point up. This makes them especially useful for Clouser-style minnows and other patterns designed to fish near structure or along the bottom.

Secure the eyes using firm figure-eight and/or cross wraps. Fly tying adhesive, head cement, or UV resin can also be used to reinforce the wraps when additional durability is desired.
