The Beck’s Sili Legs – Chartreuse is a proven saltwater fly pattern designed to attract bonefish feeding along tropical flats.
Originally developed by Barry and Cathy Beck, this popular pattern combines bright coloration, flexible silicone legs, and a shrimp-inspired profile to imitate the small crustaceans bonefish frequently feed on.
Our chartreuse variation is individually hand-tied by Soggy Waders Fly Shop using quality fly-tying materials and a Daiichi stainless steel saltwater hook.
Bonefish are known for feeding on shrimp, small crabs, and other crustaceans found in shallow coastal waters.
This pattern combines several features that make it useful for flats fishing:
Unlike heavily weighted bonefish flies that use solid metal dumbbell eyes, this variation features large bead chain eyes.
The bead chain eyes provide enough weight to help the fly descend while maintaining a relatively lightweight presentation.
This makes the pattern a useful option for shallow flats and situations where a slower-sinking fly is desirable.
Actual sink rate depends on the fly’s construction, leader, current, and water conditions.
Each fly is tied on a size #4 Daiichi 2546 stainless steel saltwater hook.
The Daiichi 2546 features a straight eye, forged construction, O’Shaughnessy bend, and needle point.
Its stainless steel construction makes it suitable for saltwater applications, including bonefish fishing.
When fishing for bonefish, presentation is often just as important as the fly pattern.
Cast ahead of cruising or tailing bonefish and allow the fly to settle before beginning your retrieve.
Use short, controlled strips to imitate a shrimp or small crustacean moving along the bottom.
Occasional pauses allow the silicone legs to move naturally and can help create a convincing presentation.
Adjust your retrieve speed and sinking time based on water depth, bottom conditions, and fish behavior.
